Art Hobby Velvia AF
First Flight August 30, 2002
The wing was finished with 2 coats of Deft glossy clear lacquer, 2 coats of white and red Rustoleum Professional enamel and then 1 final coat of clear lacquer. The ailerons are top hinged with silicone and the flaps are bottom hinged with silicone. The V-tail and flap horns were refabricated from .055" G10 fiberglass. I'm flying without servo covers until I get around to molding some. I also found that I had to cover the balsa wing tips with Econocote (or similar) to reduce dents to the tips.

All servos are HS-81s. Receiver is a Futaba 148DF.
I made my own servo mounts for the flap servos in case I had to pull them out to fix a stripped gear. The mounts are fiberglassed balsa wafers with basswood posts. The servos screw to the mounts with a couple of delrin lugs that I also made.
I made a lite ply bulkhead to mount the V-tail pushrod housings to the tailboom. The pushrods terminate with a Dubro 1/16" ball link.
This is the wiring hardness from the receiver to the male DB-9 connector mounted in the wing. High and low signals for each side of the wing are ganged, so there are 2 high pins, 2 low pins, 4 signal pins and 1 spare.
